Technology Developer, Fixed Access (Helsinki or other)

We are now looking for a Technology Developer to join our new Network Automation team, that is part of Elisa’s Production Network Services unit and Fixed Access department. 

In Elisa’s Network Services, we focus on ensuring that the planning, construction, and maintenance of Elisa’s fixed, mobile and core network is efficient and high-quality. Our goal is to offer customers the best possible user experience. Elisa’s Software Services is an agile software house within Elisa. SoSe is responsible for taking care of Elisa’s own digital services and developing new ones. Our best-known services are Elisa Viihde and Elisa Kirja. 

In this role, you will be supported by your colleagues, which combines the best know-how of both previously mentioned organizations: network experts from Network Services and software developers from Software Services. 

At the Fixed Access department, we are responsible for Elisa´s fixed access networks, ranging from network design and implementation to operation, optimization, and automation. The automation team is responsible for the department’s automation development with a main focus on building a state-of-the-art EDN (Elisa Defined Network) platform for network automation. The platform provides controller layer functionalities for different network automation processes, for example network planning, network implementation, service deployments and network maintenance in a multivendor environment. At the heart of the work is a graph database that describes the topology of the network.

We work with agile software development methods, and we constantly have a strong desire to develop our own operations.  

Your main tasks:  

• Development of fixed access network automation  
• Actively participate in the work of the automation team and defining the future vision of fully autonomous network 
• Influence Elisa’s future technology choices with own expertise in cooperation with the technology team 
• Act as a bridge builder and pioneer of the future operating model between software developers and network experts 

You will work closely with the developers, architects, network engineers and subcontractors. Because your closest colleagues are in multiple locations in Finland, you can work within Finland where it suits you the best.  

We expect you to have:  

• Experience in Fixed Access technologies (such as FTTx, GPON and Docsis) through work or studies  
• Knowledge of agile/lean software development methods  
• Theoretical understanding of new fixed network technologies   
• You have a self-initiated “Can do” attitude    
• You communicate fluently in English and Finnish 

We also value a diverse range of programming skills, and we consider it as a significant advantage if you have any familiarity with some of the software technologies that we use within our team: Kotlin, Java, Go, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Graph databases and Cloud solutions.
