Are you ready to embark on a thrilling journey in the heart of maritime innovation? Norsepower, a pioneer in sustainable shipping solutions, is bringing sails back to shipping – and saving the planet at the same time. We are now seeking a dynamic and development-oriented Performance Modeling Trainee to join our team.

Norsepower Rotor Sail harnesses the wind to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions of ships. It is the first commercially available mechanical sail for large vessels. It has a proven track record of successful operation since 2014. Norsepowers project services cover all phases from sales to project delivery and operational support. Each project is planned according to the clients needs and preferences.

In this role, you will be part of an R&D team focusing on developing ways to enhance overall performance and sail efficiency. As a Performance Modeling Trainee, your responsibility is to assist your team in utilizing wind propulsion more optimally. The responsibility of the R&D team is to combine theoretical and scientific knowledge with a wealth of operational data to develop performance-enhancement strategies. As part of this work, you will model complex physical phenomena using Matlab and Python. The role can be modified based on your skills and interests, such as data analytics

To succeed in this position, we expect you to have a relevant study background and good skills in Python and Matlab. We operate in a flexible hybrid model, encouraging attendance at the office 2-3 times a week to foster a collaborative work environment.

Requirements

– Suitable study background (e.g. physics, mathematics, naval architecture, or computer science)

– Good skills in MATLAB and Python

– Some previous work experience

– Proactive and detail-oriented working style

– Have full working proficiency in English

– Coding experience
