Business Controller (Stockholm / Gothenburg)

We are looking for a Business Controller to VR Snabbtåg’s leadership team. The role may be based either in Stockholm or Gothenburg.

VR Snabbtåg (formerly MTRX) is a modern train company that has been operating the Stockholm-Gothenburg route with our high-speed trains since 2015. We have recently rebranded to VR, and our trains are now green instead of red, but everything else remains the same. We are a team that works together, and it is the unique personalities of our employees that allow us to offer our passengers a unique service experience every day, where the journey is more than just the destination. Since our start, we have established ourselves as the most punctual train operator on the Stockholm-Gothenburg route and, since 2016, have held first place in the Swedish Quality Index for train operators. This year, we won first place in the entire category of passenger transport.

Since May 2024, we have been part of VR Group, a Nordic transport group headquartered in Finland. VR is a Finnish company with extensive experience in the railway industry, from logistics and long-distance trains in Finland to contracted urban transport in both Finland and Sweden. VR Snabbtåg represents the Swedish part of the long-distance train traffic, and we have office locations in both Gothenburg and Stockholm, just a stone’s throw from the central stations.

We offer you an insight position into the consumer business and the opportunity to influence VR Snabbtåg’s success in a changing market environment. This position will report to the Business Controller, Long-Distance Business Unit. 

We are looking for a person whose tasks include e.g.:

• Ensuring high-quality, efficient and timely financial reporting
• Producing financial analyzes to support management decision-making
• Monthly reporting, budgeting and preparation of forecasts, development of forecasting process and tools, strategy calculation
• Development of business analytics and metrics
• Cost monitoring, identifying and analyzing cost deviations and proposing actions to the leadership team
• Investment and business case calculations
• Active leadership team work

You have

• Relevant degree (M.Sc. Econ. or equivalent)
• At least 5 years of experience as a Business Controller and the insight this experience brings
• Strong understanding of financial processes and the ability to improve and streamline processes
• IFRS knowledge
• Good IT skills (MS Excel, HFM, SAP, PowerBI)
• Strong communication skills in English and Swedish
