Your role and responsibilities
Join a dynamic and innovative team at ABB Smart Power with a strong mission to increase the level of automation and digitalization in the Vaasa factory. We are offering a position of Production Development Engineer at ABB Oy, Smart Power in Vaasa. In this role your main task is to develop our current manufacturing processes and be part of integrating new automation systems and digital solutions into our factory. You will work in close co-operation with IS, process engineering, product development and business partners.

Your technical skills include some of the key words: PLC, industrial & mobile robotics, machine vision, industry automation 4.0, OPC UA, IoT, AI, process simulation, embedded software, edge computing, machine learning, Python, C#, DevOps.

The work model for the role is onsite

You will be mainly accountable for:
-Acting as an integral part of our Continuous Improvement team responsible to further make our factory the beacon within the industry.
-Handling PLC/HMI software design / programming with various languages in factory environment
-Supporting our integration of MES / machine vision / AI / robot programming and testing automation

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager you will work in our Smart Power factory and be part of a professional and supportive Continuous Improvement team. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in the fields of automation and digitalization. We offer you a challenging position in one of the most advanced factories in Finland.

Qualifications for the role
-Practical experience using basic PLC programming, Industrial robot programming and some experience with machine vision
-Strong IT, analytical and systems skills with the ability to coordinate and communicate effectively
-A B.Sc or M.Sc. level degree from automation engineering or equivalent (e.g. Master of Engineering in automation technology)
-A collaborative and solution-focused approach to work
-Fluency in Finnish with good English skills, both written and spoken
-Previous work experience from similar roles minimum 2 years (e.g Automation Engineer)
IT/OT knowledge in automation is considered an advantage
-Cyber security knowledge is considered an advantage
