Home Economics Teacher

The International School of Vantaa (ISV) is a multicultural comprehensive school with approximately 680 students. The school provides English-language instruction for grades 1–9. Students’ home language is English, or they have otherwise acquired strong English proficiency. Admission to the school is based on a language test.

Our curriculum is based on the Finnish National Core Curriculum for Basic Education. Our goal is to educate well‑behaving students with a broad general knowledge who are able to function confidently in English in a global environment.

Qualification Requirements

The applicant must hold a higher university degree and subject teacher qualification in Home Economics (Decree 986/1998). If the degree has been completed outside Finland, the applicant must present an equivalent qualification approved by the Finnish National Agency for Education.

The Finnish National Agency for Education has specified requirements for English language proficiency, which applicants must meet.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a teacher who is a positive and flexible team player with strong collaboration and communication skills. You are eager to grow professionally and interested in developing teaching practices together with colleagues.

Finnish language skills are considered an advantage, but they are not required for day-to-day work.

The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for their subject and a desire to share knowledge and experiences with students. You are positive, enthusiastic, and able to inspire these qualities in learners. Up‑to‑date knowledge of teaching, learning and behaviour strategies, along with strong classroom management skills, is essential.

Teachers at ISV receive an additional allowance of €1,800 per year for teaching in English.

Location

The school is located in the Aviapolis area at the Point – Pakkala Learning and Information Centre in Kartanonkoski. The location is within Helsinki Region Transport zone B and is easily accessible. Bus connections from, for example, Sörnäinen metro station take approximately 25 minutes. The building is shared with a city library and an English-language day-care centre.
