Project coordinator, 6G Test Center (NATO DIANA)

We are now looking for a

Project coordinator
to join the 6G Test Center at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE), which combines cutting-edge research and close cooperation with actors in the defense and security industry. You will work as a project coordinator at the Linnanmaa campus of the University of Oulu as part of an international network and the NATO DIANA 6G Test Center, which is the first of its kind in the world.

Our ITEE-faculty is one of the world’s leading scientific communities developing the ICT field. The 6G Test Center is an integral part of the 6GFlagship research program, which is the world’s first 6G research, development and innovation ecosystem funded by the Academy of Finland and the University of Oulu. The 6G Test Center aims to be a leader in testing dual-use technologies. The goal is to develop next-generation network functionalities by combining 5G/6G and artificial intelligence technologies, enable testing of arctic and challenging environments in the most realistic possible operating environment, and create new market opportunities by supporting Finnish and international innovations in the NATO DIANA global network.

About the job
– Prepare international EDF and Business Finland projects that meet the needs of companies and research.
– Develop and implement communication strategies for projects to raise awareness of the possibilities within 5G/6G testing environments.
– Coordinate networking with international NATO and EDF partners.
– Prepare collaborative projects seeking public funding.
– Promote SME participation through workshops, seminars, and matchmaking events.
– Contribute to developing the defense sector ecosystem and DIANA network on national and international levels.
– Ensure the visibility of high-quality research from the University of Oulu and VTT at key industry events and projects.
– Work in close cooperation with NATO networks, national ecosystems and SMEs, enabling their participation in testing and developing innovations.
– Promote the test center’s operating models, communication strategy and attractiveness to customers.

What We Expect from You:
To succeed and enjoy the role, we expect from you:

– A relevant higher education degree
– Experience working on international projects
– Strategic thinking and the ability to summarize key insights from fragmented details
– Knowledge of critical communication or tactical network solutions and the possibilities of dual-use technology.
– Ability to work independently and experience in a multi-actor environment and projects, especially in publicly funded projects
– Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to present ideas appealingly and convincingly.

The role requires an approved security clearance.

Salary
The position is fixed-term, starting as soon as possible and lasting until 31 December 2026.

The salary will be based on the levels MV 9-10 of the demand level chart for other expert and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary will be approx. 4000-4500 € per month (before taxes). A trial period of 6 months is applied in the position.
