Cook – Utsjoki Lapland

Aurora Holidays and Restaurant Aurora Holidays comprise a small family owned resort in the Finnish Arctic, near Utsjoki.

Half of the year, during the summer season, we offer cabin rentals and activities as well as tasty locally sourced meals from our scenic river front restaurant.

During the northern lights season, we specialize in all-inclusive packaged northern lights holidays.

Restaurant Aurora Holidays is looking for a full-time cook to join our small team in Utsjoki.

We are not looking for a master chef, but rather a person with a warm heart and an eagerness to learn. This is an entry-level position in which you have the opportunity to eventually grow to run the entire kitchen.

The restaurant caters to our all-inclusive Northern Lights holiday guests, locals, travellers, and local events. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and warm-hearted place to work and holiday in. Though our menu centers around self-raised reindeer and other clean and local ingredients, we also offer just as delicious special diets meals from vegan to gluten-free.

Your main tasks in this position include:

Prepping and preparing meals according to our small menu.
Basic kitchen related tasks and cleaning.
Managing produce stock and handling orders.
Customer service.
What we are looking for:

Basic skill set on cooking and eagerness & potential to eventually advance to manage the restaurant.
Experience with Finnish style cuisine.
A self-starter capable of working independently after the initial training period.
Good communication skills in either Finnish or English. ( Fluency in English is not needed for the job if you are fluent in Finnish, but the ability for basic communication with guests is needed).
Hygiene and alcohol serving passports.

Starting salary (negotiable based on experience) of 2200€/month plus evening and weekend supplements according to the collective agreement (TES).
Assistance with housing. If you wish to stay in our little apartment on site when moving from else where; a small private apartment on site is at your use while you look for a permanent home. We can help with finding a home for you in the area, as most homes are not listed on public sites.
