The Role

As a Cloud Platform engineer, you will be a member of our Cloud Services team. This team is responsible for creating APIs, Tools, CLIs, Documentation and Support for abstracting away the complexity of three major public clouds and making public cloud service offerings easy to consume for our internal customers, mainly engineering teams. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance the developer experience by creating abstractions for Cloud platforms supported by Crossplane and Kubernetes Operators.

Your initial focus will be on understanding the state of the current cloud platform offerings based on Crossplane, how those APIs are developed, and finding out ways by which the offered APIs & associated documentation can be graduated to the next level of maturity and also working towards our path of introducing new Crossplane APIs. During this journey, you will take guidance from the Crossplane architecture evaluation framework (link) and CNCF maturity model (link). As a member of the Cloud Services team, you will participate in the creation and delivery of the team’s OKRs.

Additionally, you will support product engineering teams to adopt Crossplane APIs by providing necessary help & enhancing documentation, by keeping the shift left strategy in mind.

What we ask from you:

Enhance developer experience and productivity on the cloud platform through the design and implementation of tools, automation, and processes: a tools craftsman.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the cloud platform based on Crossplane meets the needs of our internal customers: a developer advocate focused on meeting our developer needs.
Gather feedback at regular intervals from product engineering teams and contribute to defining and implementing the roadmap for the Cloud Platform offerings: product mindset.
Engage with platform capabilities providers (Platform Core, FinOps, DevEx, SRE, Data Storages, and QA ) and support their integration efforts: knowledge of cloud infrastructure and operations.

Requirements:

2+ years of experience with development, deployment and operating Crossplane in Production grade environments
Strong experience in working with complex helm chart implementations
8+ years of overall experience in the software industry
Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, including writing or using Kubernetes operators.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
Experience in setting up observability & alerting for cloud resources using Prometheus and Grafana
A strong understanding of software development best practices and tools, with proven experience as a developer, and exposure or tenure as a Platform Engineer, is a plus.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms, development workflows, and CI/CD best practices.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, SRE, and product management.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify areas for improvement within the platform.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to gather feedback and drive collaboration.
Knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to developer experience, platform experience, or DevOps.
A passion for continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the CNCF landscape.

Bonus points if you have:

GoLang development experience
Experience with data storage solutions like MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, Kafka, etc.
