We are looking for a Doctoral Researcher in the field of Translational Cancer Research / Precision Medicine in Colorectal Cancer. The position is full-time and will be filled for a fixed-term period of 3 years. The workplace is located at Kauppi Kampus, Tampere University.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology (MET) is dedicated to pursuing world-class research and delivering high-quality education in the fields of biomedical engineering, biotechnology, medicine and health technology. We conduct internationally acclaimed basic and applied research.
The position is situated within a research project focusing on precision medicine approaches for JAK‑targeted therapy in colorectal cancer (CRC). The research group combines expertise in molecular oncology, cell and organoid models, drug testing, and bioinformatics to develop stratification strategies for future clinical trials.
Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated Doctoral Researcher to join a project investigating precision medicine approaches for JAK‑targeted therapies in colorectal cancer, with a focus on integrating experimental and computational strategies to identify patient subgroups and biomarkers for treatment response.
The selected candidate will be able to focus on their doctoral research full-time, get supervision, and implement new ideas as a part of a research team in the positive and multidisciplinary environment of the MET faculty.
In addition to the doctoral dissertation, the duties of a doctoral researcher may include participation in education or other faculty tasks that support your studies.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in molecular medicine, cancer biology, immunology, biotechnology, or a related field
- Proven experience in mammalian cell culture
- Experience with organoid culture, RNA and protein analysis techniques (e.g., RT-qPCR, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, sequencing methodologies) is considered a strong asset
- Experience in bioinformatic or computational analysis of biological data is considered an asset. Bioinformatic analyses will be conducted in close collaboration with experienced researchers within the team, allowing the doctoral researcher to develop analytical skills alongside experimental work.
- Good communication skills in English, and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability and motivation to pursue and complete a doctoral degree as demonstrated during prior studies or otherwise.
You need to have completed a relevant Master’s degree before the starting date of employment.

The planned starting date is in April 2026, or as mutually agreed. The position is full-time, and it will be filled for a fixed-term period of 3 years. A trial period of 6 months applies to all our new employees.
The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a Doctoral Researcher is placed on level 2-4 of the job requirements scale. A typical starting salary for a Doctoral Researcher is approximately 2700-2900 EUR per month. The salary increases based on experience and the progress of doctoral studies.
