Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences create a unique environment for multidisciplinary, inspirational and high-impact research and education. Our university community has its competitive edges in technology, health and society. www.tuni.fi/en

Laboratory for Future Electronics at the Electrical Engineering Unit at the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences at Tampere University focuses on sustainable electronics materials and fabrication processes, flexible and stretchable electronics, self-powered sensor nodes, and heterogenous integration.

We are excited to announce an opening for a motivated Doctoral Researcher to work on “Laser-Assisted Atomic Layer Deposition” as a part of the “Utilization of high-resolution printing and low-temperature laser-assisted ALD for sustainable large-area electronics“ (ROPALD) project funded by Research Council of Finland Proof-of-Concept program.

Job description

We are now looking for a Doctoral Researcher to join the project to develop a novel laser-assisted ALD process. The aim of the work is to develop the new ALD process and optimize it for thin-film flexible transistors and circuits in collaboration with our partner.  The work will focus on:

  • Developing and optimizing the laser-assisted ALD process for the fabrication of thin-film transistor gate oxides
  • Structural and electrical characterization of thin-films (e.g., ellipsometer, AFM, SEM, XRD, XPS, IV, CV)
  • Engaging in the dissemination of the data through scientific publications, report writing, and conference presentation.
  • Participating in developing utilization pathways in collaboration with our partners
  • Collaboration with the other colleagues across Tampere University, and with project partners.
