Sales Concept Designer (Naval Architect)
At Kewatec Shipyards, we design and build high-performance aluminium vessels for demanding professional use for defence, civil security and infrastructure. Most of our deliveries go to government and authority customers. Every boat is unique and tailored from concept to delivery.
We are now strengthening our sales team with a hands-on concept designer with a Naval Architecture background. As a core member of the sales organisation, you will focus on sales-phase concept design, layouts and weight/performance estimates, working side-by-side with the Sales Manager, who retains overall responsibility for each sales project, and in close cooperation with our in-house engineering team. In this role, you will support parallel sales projects, sometimes based on new concepts, sometimes on proven Kewatec designs.
We expect you to:
Turn customer specifications into practical sales concepts and quotation drawings.
Create general arrangements and space layouts that meet operational needs.
Prepare weight estimates and basic performance assumptions (speed, range, power) for the proposal stage.
Support Sales Manager with cost estimation inputs related to your design work and technical solutions.
Ensure that concepts are technically realistic and aligned with stability and other fundamental principles.
Produce clear concept packs and visual material that carry a consistent Kewatec look and feel.
Collaborate closely with the sales team.
Hand over approved concepts to engineering and supporting a smooth transition from sales to project phase.
What youll bring:
Experience in vessel concept design, including layouts/GA and practical configuration of professional boats.
Ability to perform weight estimates and basic performance and stability–related assessments at concept level.
Familiarity with modern 3D/CAD tools and standard calculation tools.
A good design eye: you can combine functional layouts with a clear and consistent visual appearance.
The ability to develop and iterate concepts with sales, read customer needs from specifications and discussions, and turn them into workable solutions within the frame of maritime rules as adapted from time to time.
English working proficiency (documentation and customer material). Finnish, Swedish or other European language skills are considered an advantage.
We consider the following to be an advantage:
Experience with authority/defence vessels and international customers.
Familiarity with the concept of adapting IACS classification rules and national regulations.
Exposure to CFD or more advanced analysis methods.
We offer you:
Work on non-series, high-performance vessels, where your concepts eventually sail in the real world.
Straightforward, low-bureaucracy Nordic culture and an agile sales team with quick decision-making.
A chance to influence Kewatecs future concepts and design language in a visible way.
Competitive compensation and benefits.
