Project Leader – Maritime AI Solutions
We are looking for a skilled individual to lead research projects in applied artificial intelligence at the Maritime Technology group at Novia University of Applied Sciences. This position offers the opportunity to work on applied research problems in collaboration with skilled researchers and industry professionals. The role is ideal for individuals with a research background in computer science and engineering who seek to apply their skills to innovate and redesign engineering processes for future agentic workflows in the maritime domain.
What you’ll be doing
– Lead and coordinate research projects.
– Be responsible for project planning, timelines, budgets, and communication.
– Supervise and support project researchers.
– Support grant applications and research funding processes.
– Contribute with your own expertise to ongoing research projects.
– Help establish a competence area in maritime applied artificial intelligence.
Ways to stand out from the crowd
– Expertise or experience in working with AI (computer vision, agents, LLMs, or transformers in particular).
– Previous work experience in supervising students or leading a team.
– Previous work experience in managing research projects.
– Previous experience in applying for project funding.
What we’re looking for
– A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., computer science or engineering).
– Previous research or work experience in the maritime domain.
– A proven track record of publishing quality research results and tools.
– Proficient written and oral communication skills in English.
Employment
For the period 27.04.2026 – 30.06.2027 or according to the agreement. Part-time employment is possible by agreement.
Salary according to Collective agreement for universities of applied sciences and internal directives. The position includes a probationary period equal to half the length of the contract.
