Job Description / Responsibilities
HVAC & Cleanroom Design and Engineering
- Preparation of concept notes, AHU zoning drawings, area classification drawings, pressure differential drawings, HVAC equipment location layouts.
- Verification of heat load calculations, BOQ, tender documents, and technical data sheets for AHUs, valves, filters, dehumidifiers, and cold rooms.
- Review of duct design, airflow and control diagrams, reflected ceiling plans, and modular panel layouts.
- Technical bid analysis for HVAC, cleanroom partitions, and cold rooms.
- Vendor GA drawing approvals and compliance checks.
- Knowledge of cleanroom partitions, LAFs, pass boxes, chillers, and cooling towers.
- Supervision of installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Electrical & Automation Integration
- Coordination with electrical teams.
- Development of automation deliverables: control schematics, sensor layouts, BMS/SCADA points list, and sequence of operation.
- Ensuring compliance with pharma standards in automation integration.
Containment Facility Design
- Specialized design for BSL-3 and HPAPI facilities with focus on safety and compliance.
Standards & Compliance
- Knowledge of ISPE, US FDA, EU GMP, Schedule ‘M’, ASHRAE, SMACNA, DW142, ISO 14644, and related international standards.
- Preparation and review of qualification protocols, validation, calibration, and execution at sites.
Energy Efficiency & Sustainability
- Incorporation of LEED/IGBC standards in HVAC design.
- Conducting energy audits and implementing optimization strategies.
Digital Tools
- Proficiency in BIM/Revit for HVAC layouts and clash detection.
Managerial
- Planning, control, and implementation of departmental administrative work.
- Forecasting manpower, technical reference data, and material requirements.
- Conducting departmental meetings, resolving current issues, and planning future work.
- Implementation of management directives and meeting action points.
- Monitoring manpower workload, work-hour reports, and leave plans.
- Collection and integration of technical data across departments.
- Defining KRAs, conducting performance appraisals, and planning training programs.
- Role definition and delegation within the department.
- Study and implementation of ISO processes and documentation formats.
- Conducting and facing ISO audits.
- Staying updated with CGMP, FDA, and international standards.
- Tracking market developments and emerging technologies (IoT-enabled HVAC monitoring, predictive maintenance).
- Risk management through development of risk registers and compliance frameworks.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Hands-on experience in HVAC design projects within pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC automation, electrical integration, and cleanroom compliance.
- Exposure to global pharma projects (USFDA, EU GMP, WHO GMP).
- Proven ability to mentor and develop technical teams with measurable KPIs.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and sustainability practices.
Basic requirement:
- Knowledge of Pharmaceutical processes / operations.
- Knowledge of chemical engineering design calculations
- Knowledge of AutoCAD (Preferred)
- Knowledge of various Regulatory / GMP / Statutory requirements related to Pharmaceuticals & Biotech manufacturing (Preferred)
- Knowledge of engineering guidelines like ISPE, ASME, ASME-BPE, ASTM etc

Relevant Experience
- ·15+ years of experience in HVAC and cleanroom engineering in Pharma – OSD and Injectable and Biotech Projects from Consulting & Engineering (Pharmaceuticals/Biotech) Companies
