As an ophthalmologist, you will be part of a highly qualified multidisciplinary team, committed to continuous development and improving standards of care.
The clinic operates as an outpatient and ophthalmic surgery center, providing care for new patients and follow-up care for those with chronic diseases. You will have access to modern facilities, including operating rooms equipped to perform cataract surgery and laser procedures.
The position focuses on comprehensive ophthalmic care. However, if you are interested in specializing or would like to develop further in a particular area, the hospital will support your professional development. The team is made up of passionate professionals dedicated to providing exceptional care and collaborating on clinical research. In addition, you will have the opportunity to train and guide medical trainees, enriching the team’s experience. What do we offer?
– Free-of-charge language training before moving to Finland
– A full-time, permanent working contract
– A monthly base salary starting at approximately €7,442 (gross) after completed Valvira licensing and issue of your Finnish license to practise. Your monthly salary during the induction period, but before your license to practise in Finland, would be €4,190 (gross).
– The final salary level will be determined individually based on your skills and work experience, and is expected to rise from the base salaries mentioned above.
– Additional compensation for work outside regular hours (afternoons, weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime) paid in addition to the base salary.

What does the job involve?
– Working hours: 38 hours and 15 minutes per week, with urgent care from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 15:00. The working time includes a lunch break.
– Diagnosis and treatment: Evaluation and management of eye diseases in adult and paediatric patients, both in initial consultations and follow-up visits.
– Surgical procedures: Performing cataract surgery, laser treatments, and minor procedures such as eyelid surgery.
– Multidisciplinary collaboration: Working as a team with nurses and other healthcare professionals, supervising intravitreal injections, and promoting continuous training.
– Professional development: Opportunities to guide medical trainees and participate in training and specialization programs.
– Modern work environment: Access to state-of-the-art facilities with operating rooms equipped to provide high-quality ophthalmic care.
What do we expect from you?
– Ability to complete a free-of-charge intensive Finnish language course until you reach level B1 within 6 to 7 months from the start date of the language training. (Note: You will relocate only after reaching the target level of language.)
– A medical degree and completed specialization in ophthalmology issued or recognized in the European Union.
– Important: For those with EU/EEA recognition, we also demand minimum 3 years of prior work experience within EU/EEA area after recognition.
– High level of motivation to improve the quality of the clinic and ability to work as a team
– Solid clinical experience.
