HPC Infrastructure Support Engineer, Kajaani

We are looking for an HPC Infrastructure Support Engineer for our client XTX Markets Technologies at their data centre in Kajaani. This is a full-time, permanent position. The workplace is located in Kajaani, and the employer supports relocation if needed.

In this role, youll be responsible for maintaining and supporting the HPC (high-performance computing) cluster at the Kajaani data centre. Youll also support projects, vendor collaboration, and inventory management. The role requires on-call availability and occasional overtime. The selected candidate will be directly employed by XTX Markets. Barona Engineering is the recruitment partner.

Your responsibilities include:

– Hands-on deployment and maintenance of physical infrastructure, including servers, network switches, storage systems, and structured cabling.
– Performing hardware installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting on-site.
– Executing physical setup and configuration tasks for large-scale deployments (e.g., installing and connecting 1,000 servers).
– Working closely with vendors and service providers to ensure timely maintenance and technical support.
– Contributing to platform design and customization, bringing practical insights from hardware-level experience.

We expect:

– A relevant degree in IT or electrical/electronics engineering.
– Proven experience in data center environments, with strong hands-on skills in hardware installation and maintenance.
– Solid understanding of high-speed networking, fibre types, and transceivers.
– Familiarity with networking fundamentals, server hardware, and related software.
– Experience using hardware monitoring and management tools.
– Fluency in English; Finnish is an advantage
– A proactive, practical mindset and ability to work effectively in a team.
