Personal Assistant (Practical Nurse / Care Assistant)

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate healthcare professional to join the care team for an ALS patient. Your task is to provide comprehensive care to a person suffering from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). The patient is severely mobility-impaired and requires extensive assistance with daily activities and medical procedures. The role demands professionalism, reliability, and initiative. Work is carried out at the patients home. You will receive orientation for the role, but you will work alone during shifts. Your closest contacts will be the rest of the care team and the patients family.

Key responsibilities:
– Enable the ALS patient to manage daily life at home
– Safely use and operate necessary assistive devices (e.g., patient lift, turning device)
– Perform all tasks related to patient transfers and positioning care
– Ensure the patients comfort, dignity, and safety in all situations
– Collaborate with the family and care team to maintain a positive and flexible atmosphere

We expect you to have:
– Healthcare qualification (e.g., practical nurse or care assistant)
– At least three years of experience caring for paralyzed or mobility-impaired patients
– Proficiency in using patient transfer aids and correct ergonomic practices
– Professional & proactive attitude, and you are eager to learn and develop
