AI Software Engineer, Helsinki

About the role

As a core member of our client’s engineering team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning componentsfrom architectural design to production deployment. You will play a crucial role in expanding our client’s capabilities and ensuring our existing solutions remain robust and reliable.

Work tasks

Your key tasks will include:

Architecture & Design: Design scalable and robust software architectures to develop and enhance the core AI engines that power our client’s AI model development

Software Implementation: Develop, write, and optimize production-level code to bring innovative ML features to life

Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest standards of code quality and model reliability by creating comprehensive software test instructions, unit tests, and validation protocols

Technical Documentation: Write and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation to support development, regulatory compliance, and cross-team collaboration

Product Maintenance: Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain existing machine learning products to ensure seamless performance for our end-users in clinical and research settings

We are looking for

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical problem-solver who bridges the gap between complex machine learning theory and practical, scalable software engineering. You write clean code, understand the intricacies of deploying ML models in production, and thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Requirements:

Educational Background: MSc or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related highly quantitative field

Experience: 2-3+ years of relevant industry experience in software engineering and machine learning development

Technical Skills: Strong programming skills and hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning models in production environments

Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Fluency in written and spoken English is a must

It is meritorious if you have:

In-depth knowledge of the latest advancements in image analysis methodology, along with the ability to continuously stay up to date, identify relevant research, and adapt it for integration into our client’s AI engines

Fluency in Finnish

Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and computer vision

Previous experience working with medical devices, healthcare data, or within regulated environments (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA)

Experience with cloud computing platforms and MLOps practices
