Two Design Managers, Deck Outfitting & Structure Teams, Marine

Your role and the team 

Join us as we are looking for two people-focused leaders to guide our Deck Outfitting and Structure teams to success. You'll be part of our growing international Marine business. Our professionals combine technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration to deliver sustainable and technologically advanced vessel solutions for clients around the world. 

• The Deck Outfitting team consists of 14 professionals and has grown significantly in recent years. The team plays a key role in our basic engineering projects, delivering deck and mission outfitting solutions for demanding marine projects. In this role, you will provide technical guidance and support the team in identifying effective engineering solutions. 
• The Structure team consists of 19 professionals and combines structural design expertise with advanced calculation capabilities, including FEM analysis and classification-related engineering. In addition to supporting the same vessel projects as the Deck Outfitting team, the team also carries out dedicated structural and calculation assignments. This role focuses on enabling experts to succeed through supportive leadership.

As a Design Manager, your primary responsibility is to lead and develop a team ranging from trainees and design engineers to senior consultants and discipline leads while ensuring effective resource allocation and successful project delivery. Your focus is on people leadership, competence development, and ensuring your team has the capabilities needed to deliver high-quality results. Rather than acting as a hands-on technical specialist, you will enable both your team and projects to succeed.

You will be responsible for team leadership, resource planning, competence development, and staffing decisions, while working closely with project managers, discipline leads, Sales, and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery and business growth.

What helps you succeed in these roles

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant field, preferably in engineering or technology.
• Previous experience in a leadership role within the marine industry or another engineering-driven environment.
• Experience in structural design, deck outfitting, or related marine engineering disciplines is considered a strong asset.
• Ability and motivation to lead, coach, and develop individuals and teams to achieve their full potential.
• Strong resource management, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to make decisions, solve problems, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Understanding project delivery, stakeholder management, and multidisciplinary engineering environments.
• Fluent communication skills in English and preferably in Finnish.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work in a global environment across different time zones.
