Research and Innovation Services create conditions for high-quality, productive, responsible RDI activities that have a broad impact on society. We assist researchers with issues related to complementary RDI funding in both the application and implementation phases. We also support various mechanisms for the transfer of research results, such as commercialization projects, licensing, and spinoff creation, and establish connections to various stakeholders and ecosystems.
We are looking for two experts (Grant writers) to join the Preaward team in Research and Innovation Services at Tampere University.
Job description
As a Grant writer, your task is to engage researchers to apply for competitive international Horizon Europe research funding, support the preparation of funding applications, and promote cooperation between researchers and external partners. Your primary focus will be improving the quality of funding applications by e.g. participating in the writing of non-scientific sections, review of proposals, and management of proposal preparation (including consortium management) – ensuring smooth progress of the whole application process. The tasks will be mainly focused on the areas of biomedical engineering, biotechnology, medicine, health technology, natural sciences or information technology, depending on the background of the selected person.
In your role as Grant writer, you will also maintain contact with research funders and other internal and external stakeholders, participate in the organization and delivery of training and information events, and develop the university’s funding application and other support processes.
Requirements
We expect you to have an applicable master’s degree – preferably in the previously mentioned focus areas. The tasks require excellent written and oral English skills. In terms of successfully managing the tasks, previous experience in national and/or international funding applications is essential.
A doctoral degree, knowledge of the Horizon Europe program (especially Pillar 2), excellent writing skills, and process management skills are considered an advantage.
We are looking for a flexible and dynamic team worker with strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. As research funding deadlines are strict, applicants require excellent time management, task prioritization, and the ability to work dynamically under time pressure. The position involves some travelling.
Tampere University is a unique, multidisciplinary and boldly forward-looking, evolving community. Our values are openness, diversity, responsibility, courage, critical thinking, erudition, and learner-centeredness. We hope that you can embrace these values and promote them in your work.
We offer
We offer an international and versatile position and the opportunity to participate in the development of the unit’s and team’s operations. You will work as part of an enthusiastic team of experts alongside our international research community. The university offers good opportunities for personal professional development. As a member of staff at Tampere University, you will enjoy a range of competitive benefits, such as comprehensive occupational health care services, flexible ways of working, affordable restaurant and café services on all campuses, excellent sports facilities on campuses, and support for staff’s culture and sports activities.
The positions will be filled full-time until further notice, starting as soon as possible mutually agreed.
The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities. According to the criteria applied to other experts and support staff, the position of an expert is placed on level 10-11 of the job requirements scale. A trial period of six (6) months applies to all our new employees. The positions are based in Tampere.
