Project Manager – Production Platform, SSAB Europe Oy, Hämeenlinna, Raahe, Helsinki

Do you have experience in industrial IT projects and a passion for driving transformation? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join SSAB and support the implementation of our Production Platform. Be a key part of shaping the future of our systems, collaborating across teams, and contributing to the success of a large-scale transformation journey.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is essential for the sustainability of this planet. Steel has been one of the most important materials for developing our society and it will continue to be so. In the roofs over our heads, in the bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB we are proud of our history and leadership in high-strength steel. But we are also aware that the production of steel is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases in the world. That has to change. That is why we have developed the world’s first fossil free steel production and has committed to becoming largely fossil-free by around 2030. As part of SSAB you will be instrumental in realizing this goal and push for the green transformation of the whole steel industry.

About the position
As a Project Manager, you will support the implementation of the Production Platform, ensuring efficient planning, resource management, and on-time delivery. You will oversee daily operations, track progress, support in risk management, and drive collaboration across teams to achieve program goals.

You will play a key role in The Aurora Program, which is responsible for developing the business processes and IT systems required to operate the new mini-mills for fossil-free steel production. The primary objective of the program is to ensure full readiness for the startup of the Luleå mini-mill by the end of 2028.

Frequent travel to Helsinki will be required in the role if you are not already based there, with an estimated minimum of 30%, though it may vary throughout different phases of the project. You will need to be flexible and prepared to travel to ensure alignment, collaboration, and successful implementation of the Production Platform.

Managing day-to-day operations within and between the Aurora/Production Platform streams.
Coordinating the implementation project activities for the Production Platform, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives.
Planning, documenting, and tracking project tasks.
Ensuring timely delivery of all project deliverables.

Monitoring progress and making necessary adjustments to keep the project on track.
Providing guidance, support, and active contribution to ensure that the ways of working defined by the PMO are adopted across different streams.

About You
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or related field.
3-5 years of experience in IT projects within an industrial setting, with hands on experience in applying various project management methodologies. A formal project management certification is a plus.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams in a complex multi-partner setting.
Excellent communication skills in English (company language); proficiency in Finnish or Swedish is a plus.
Self-driven and proactive, with the ability to take initiative and drive progress independently.
Willingness and ability to travel to Helsinki (minimum 30%) if not already based there.
