Grant Writer, LUC RDI Services

We are looking for a Grant Writer to join the LUC RDI Services unit of the University of Lapland, for a permanent employment contract.

The Lapland University Consortium (LUC) is a nationally and internationally leading actor and pioneer in Arctic research and expertise. Our strategic choices include Global Arctic responsibility, sustainable tourism, and future services and reachability. The University of Lapland, and Lapland University of Applied Sciences make up the Lapland University Consortium, which together have approximately 10,000 students and 1,100 employees.

The position of Grant Writer is located in the consortium’s joint research, development and innovation services unit (RDI Services), which broadly supports the research and development requirements of the consortiums personnel by providing instruction and support in obtaining external funding. The Grant Writer will serve teaching and research personnel at the University of Lapland.

Your tasks are

– Collaborate with researchers and research groups in the preparation and writing of priority research funding applications for EU Framework Programme calls, especially ERC and MSCA.

– Advise, guide and support university staff in producing high-quality proposals for the procurement of international competitive funding.

– Assist personnel in finding relevant funding opportunities and in drawing up financial plans.

– Comment on funding applications, and help interpret funders’ terms and conditions.

– Also participate in other expert and development tasks related to RDI Services.

What we expect from you?

– An applicable higher education degree

– Knowledge of international competitive financing instruments, in particular Horizon Europe Pillar I – MSCA and ERC.

– Experience in applying for research funding

– Proactive, solution-oriented, and developmental approach to work

– Excellent oral and written Finnish and English language skills

– Ability to handle stressful situations

– Good communication and interaction skills

In addition, we value individuals with good knowledge of, and a background in research, particularly those familiar with and experience in RDI projects. A doctoral degree is considered an advantage.

Start of work: June 1, 2025 or by agreement
Working hours: full-time
Trial period: 6 months
Remuneration: The task-specific salary is determined on the basis of level 11 for other expert and support staff, from the salary system of the general collective agreement for universities (Sivista). In addition, a salary component based on personal performance is paid, up to a maximum of 50%. The starting monthly salary level is approximately 4900€ 5030€. The applicant can also present their own salary request.
