The Kotka Maritime Research Centre (MERIKOTKA) specializes in examining maritime transport and logistics from an interdisciplinary perspective, considering aspects related to safety, environmental impacts, economics, and governance. The research community within the center, representing leading Finnish universities and research institutions, shares a common vision to promote the holistic and sustainable development of the maritime sector and to advance research on the subject in Finland. The center’s activities are coordinated by the Kotka Maritime Research Association (Merikotka ry).
