Controller and Global Finance Process Advisor
Finn Church Aid (FCA) is looking for a Controller and Global Finance Process Advisor for the following exciting responsibilities:
50% – Financial Controlling and Support
Ensure effective financial controlling for designated Country Offices or units, helping to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with FCA’s financial policies and procedures. Provide guidance on financial planning, reporting, month- and year-end closing, and audits. Support teams by delivering financial training and strengthening staff capacity in financial management.
50% – Finance Process Development
Lead and contribute to the development of FCA’s global finance processes in line with the unit’s finance development roadmap. Drive improvements in efficiency, consistency, and transparency while ensuring that processes meet stakeholder and organizational requirements.
The position is based at our head office in Helsinki, Finland, within the Global Controlling Unit. International travel to some of FCA’s country operations will be required as part of the position.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Financial Controlling
- Provide financial oversight and support for designated areas to ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and local legislation.
- Support monthly and annual closing processes and contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Review and approve instalments in line with policies and support budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting.
- Support country office finance staff in applying financial policies and processes.
- Oversee donor- and FCA-funded projects throughout their lifecycle, including budgeting, reporting, instalments to partners, audits, and compliance with internal policies.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements for the parent company/group and program countries.
Finance Process Development
- Lead and contribute to the development and improvement of global finance processes to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance.
- Support the implementation of new or updated processes and provide guidance to colleagues on finance procedures.
- Act as a change advocate to promote adoption and compliance across the organization.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in finance, accounting, or controlling. Professional qualifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) are an asset.
- Solid experience in independently managing financial tasks, preferably within an international organization.
- Experience in developing and improving finance processes; experience in an INGO environment is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial information to support decision-making.
- Good understanding of project planning, budgeting, and financial reporting in a project-based environment.
- Proactive and independent working style with strong problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams and organizational levels.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems; knowledge of Unit4 is an advantage.
- Ability to adapt to financial management systems and reporting tools.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages such as Arabic, French, or Finnish are considered an asset.
The position will be filled as soon as possible. It is a fixed-term position until 31 July 2027, including a six-month probationary period. The compensation is based on the FCA salary scale and the candidate’s level of experience. The salary range for this position is 3 556,52 € – 3 962,98 € (depending on experience.
