IB MYP and DP Mathematics Teacher

The International School of Helsinki (ISH) is a vibrant, inclusive, and non-profit learning
community offering education to students aged 4 to 18 through the International

prepares students for the complexities of the modern world. Our community includes over

Are you a dedicated and experienced Mathematics Teacher? The International School of
Helsinki is seeking an energetic and passionate Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma (DP)
Mathematics Teacher. This is a part-time, temporary position within our IB World School,
where inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and real-world applications are at the heart of our
curriculum.

Key Responsibilities Include
– Teach mathematics to students in the MYP (Middle Years Programme) and DP
(Diploma Programme).
– Develop and implement engaging, inquiry-driven lessons aligned with the IB MYP
and IB DP frameworks.
– Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning through
real-world applications and interdisciplinary projects.
– Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and support academic
growth.
– Assess student progress using IB assessment criteria, providing meaningful
feedback to students and parents.
– Encourage curiosity, collaboration, and confidence in mathematical learning.
– Collaborate with colleagues to integrate mathematics with other subject areas and
real-world contexts.
– Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe
and supported to take intellectual risks.
– Actively maintain a culture of vigilance to identify any changes in student well-being,
reporting all concerns promptly in line with school safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications & Experience
– Bachelors or Masters degree in Mathematics or a related field.
– Teaching certification and a minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Mathematics,
preferably in an IB MYP and or DP setting or international school.
– Strong understanding of IB philosophy, inquiry-based learning, and STEM education.
– Experience guiding students through scientific investigations and lab-based learning.
– Ability to create an engaging and collaborative learning environment.
– Excellent communication, adaptability, and classroom management skills.
– High levels of proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in English
