Application Development Engineer

We are strengthening our Engineered Solutions Business Unit´s Application Engineering team and looking for a forward-thinking Application Development Engineer to join our team!

In this role you will be supporting our Technical Sales, Sales, and Production in their daily and long-term activity through new product design and development. In addition, your tasks will include engineering support on site, production documentation and executing the ramp-up processes. The position is located at our Joensuu factory, alternatively our Mäntyharju factory. You will report to the Senior Manager, Application Engineering, BU Engineered Solutions.

Your main responsibilities and tasks include:
– Technical support to sales organization.
– Perform feasibility studies and technology fit analysis.
– New products development, optimization, and design.
– Perform profile costings and technical calculations as well as trouble shooting in customer interface.
– Take overall responsibility and leadership (project management) of the given projects.
– Technical documentation, product documentation, quality documentation, ERP documentation management, product approval and release to production.

Desired skills and competencies:
– B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
– Knowledge in mechanical engineering, structural analysis, strength calculations, and load testing.
– Proactive attitude for problem solving.
– Self-motivation and drive for continuous learning and skill development in composite materials and applications.
– Willingness to quickly adapt to new projects, technologies, and work environments.
– Good verbal communication skills and capability to effective writing.
– Good spoken and written in English for communication with international customers, suppliers, and team members. Other languages are beneficial.
