SENIOR JAVA DEVELOPER 

to join Passenger Information Systems RD unit to work on the future of on-board systems and solutions in our office in Tampere, Finland.

Teleste’s unit in Tampere specializes in on-board systems for rolling stock vehicles, like Passenger Information, CCTV, Phone and Public Address. The customers are renowned train manufacturers such as Alstom, Stadler and CAF. With your work, you can see tangible results in hundreds of trains, trams and metros, used every day by tens of thousands of passengers in Europe, Middle East and North America.

As a Senior Java Developer, you will own the software solution delivered in scope of a project. The project software solution is mostly based on Teleste’s existing software platform, augmented with needed configurations and additional functionalities to fulfill the Customer’s requirements. Team’s responsibility is to integrate Teleste platform software to train interfaces and to other external interfaces on the ground side. 

Your strengths to enjoy and succeed in this role are: 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A strong background in software development (with a basic understanding of hardware) 
• The capability to understand complex system architectures
• Fluency in both written and spoken English
• Technology focused and hardware-oriented mindset, interest to work with embedded devices.

Primary technical skills needed

• Minimum 5 years of Java development experience and practical knowledge in Spring framework is a big plus.
• Experience in using Java development tools (e.g Eclipse/ JUnit/ git)
• Basic understanding of Linux embedded systems, ability to understand and write simple shell scripts 
• Capability to understand different communication protocols.

Additionally, a quality-driven mindset and documentation skills are seen as a plus.
