Design Manager, Construction, Industry

Your role and the team 

Join us as we strengthen our Construction team of nine professionals! The team is part of our Industry business unit, providing high-end engineering, design, and project execution services for our clients, as well as supporting project sales. The position can be based at our offices in Turku or Jyväskylä, please let us know your preferred location in your application.

As a Design Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality and efficient project execution within your area of expertise. You are responsible for securing the right resources and maintaining strong technical capabilities, acting as a project supervisor and/or project owner when required. In addition, you will lead and support your team in a daily leadership role while working hands-on in projects, develop and maintain expertise within your discipline, participate in recruitment activities, and support subcontracting decisions from a technical perspective.

In this role, you collaborate closely with sales by providing engineering and technology support, contributing to proposal preparation and cost calculations, and building strong client relationships. You will report to the Senior Manager, Plant Engineering.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering professional from the process, energy, or mechanical industry who wants to drive successful projects by leading people and actively contributing to project delivery close to the customer. The role can be tailored to reflect your expertise and career goals.

What helps you succeed in this role

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant field (preferably in engineering or technology)
• Strong experience in steel structure design, concrete structures, and cost estimation
• Relevant certifications, such as:
  • Designer of steel structures (demanding / very demanding)
  • Designer of concrete structures (demanding)
• Ability to lead study and pre-engineering projects
• Strong project management skills, including resource management, problem-solving abilities, effective time and organizational skills, and the ability to perform well under pressure and changing priorities
• Motivation to lead, coach, and develop people and guide your team towards shared goals
• Fluent communication skills in Finnish and good proficiency in English; additional languages are considered an advantage
• Willingness to travel occasionally
