Senior Plant Engineer, White Liquor Plant

ANDRITZ Recovery division is seeking an experienced Senior Plant Engineer to join the Mechanical Design Group of the White Liquor Plant.

In this senior role, you will be responsible for leading layout engineering of white liquor plants and supervising subcontracted engineering in both tender and delivery projects. You will act as a key technical expert, support project managers in customer meetings, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders in global project environments. The role also includes significant responsibilities in process and engineering development, mentoring, and standardization initiatives.

The preferred location for this position is Savonlinna.

Project Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate plant engineering activities in designated White Liquor Plant projects, with global project coverage.
Guide and supervise subcontractor and internal plant engineering work within allocated engineering hours.
Prepare, maintain, and control plant engineering schedules for projects.
Lead engineering review meetings (model, drawing, AEI).
Perform technical comparison and evaluation of purchased equipment quotations.
Contribute to concept development during sales phases, including analysis of mill standards, deviations, and layouts.
Act as a substitute for the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) when required.

Development Responsibilities
Identify key areas for plant engineering development and lead related projects.
Drive global plant engineering process development and ensure alignment with new standards and requirements.
Independently develop engineering instructions, solutions, and best practices.
Lead standardization projects.
Participate in and lead plant engineering tool development initiatives.
Mentor junior engineers and support competence development within the team.

Requirements

Education & Experience
Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field (BSc/MSc).
Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
At least 1 year of experience in site supervision, manufacturing, or commissioning.
For senior-level suitability: more than five years of experience in layout, piping and/or steel structure design, and strong understanding of project business.

Technical Competencies
Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD (2D) and 3D engineering software such as Aveva E3D and Inventor.
Strong understanding of white liquor plant processes, equipment, layout, and engineering standards (EN/ASME and others).
Good knowledge of pulp mill products beyond the White Liquor Plant area.
Good understanding of interfaces with other engineering disciplines (AEI, piping, process, etc.).

Behavioral & Leadership Skills
Excellent leadership capabilities in guiding internal and subcontracted engineering teams.
Strong decision-making ability in complex mechanical engineering issues and sales-phase conceptual decisions.
Ability to influence stakeholders, lead large multicultural teams, and communicate effectively with internal and external parties.
High degree of independence, initiative, and goal orientation.
Flexibility to adapt to varying workload and project needs.

Language & Travel
Fluent written and spoken English. Other language skills are considered an advantage.
Willingness to travel to short-term project sites domestically and internationally.
