HSE Officer

Barona Engineering is looking for an experienced HSE Officer for its clients data center construction projects in Finland and other Scandinavian countries. The work will begin as soon as possible, and the selected candidate will be hired directly by our client for a permanent position.

As an HSE Officer, you will be responsible for managing health, safety, and environmental matters on construction sites, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. Your tasks include risk management, audits, training, and collaboration with authorities. You will work closely with project teams and stakeholders to actively promote a strong and proactive safety culture. The role involves travel to project sites, for example in Norway and Denmark.

Your responsibilities include:

– Assessing and managing safety and environmental risks at construction sites
– Preparing and maintaining RAMS (method statements and risk assessments)
– Conducting audits, inspections, and follow-ups
– Investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implementing corrective actions
– Organizing HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks
– Collaborating with authorities and project teams
– Monitoring and reporting HSE KPIs and driving continuous improvement initiatives

We expect from you:

– Relevant technical education and several years of experience in HSE roles within construction projects
– Experience in data center projects is an advantage
– Strong knowledge of Nordic HSE legislation and industry best practices
– Fluent English skills (additional languages such as Portuguese or Polish are a plus)
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence safety behavior
– Solid digital skills (Microsoft 365, Teams, reporting tools)
– Independent, structured, and solution-oriented mindset
