Do you want to turn research into impactful solutions that improve people\u2019s well-being, strengthen societal resilience, and attract international funding? LUT University is seeking a grant writer whose work will focus on competitive research funding and collaboration, particularly in areas related to digital health, preventive well-being, and adaptive resilience.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>The position is part of LUT\u2019s Research Services, but you will be collaborating closely with researchers and experts at the LAB University of Applied Sciences.\u00a0<\/p>\n

About the role<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a grant writer, you will not only write proposals but actively contribute to how projects are built and developed. Your work will involve identifying funding opportunities, developing project concepts, and maintaining close dialogue with researchers and partners. The goal is to recognise shared interests and translate them into competitive, fundable research initiatives. Your work focuses on themes such as preventive well-being, functional capacity, digital and data-driven health systems and tools, well-being services, and adaptive resilience and preparedness for a health\u2011promoting society.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You will work closely with researchers, research groups, and partners across disciplines. Your role is to understand both the scientific content and the logic of funding instruments and to bring these together in a way that meets the expectations of funders. This means supporting researchers in structuring project ideas, articulating impact, and positioning proposals clearly within an international funding environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You will be involved in project preparation from early-stage ideation to final submission. A central part of your work is to bridge research and funding, helping prepare proposals that are both scientifically strong and aligned with evaluation criteria and programme priorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Funding sources may be national or international, with a strong emphasis on EU programmes such as Horizon Europe and EU4Health. You will also help strengthen collaboration between researchers and external partners, including companies and public sector actors.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What we expect from you\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We expect you to have experience in preparing competitive funding applications and a solid understanding of major international funding instruments, particularly EU programmes such as Horizon Europe and EU4Health. You can interpret their logic and evaluation criteria in practice and translate them into strong, funder-aligned proposals. You are comfortable working in the intersection of research and funding.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You are proactive and service-minded, and you enjoy working with people. You are motivated by helping others succeed and by supporting high-quality research. You are able to take an active role in project development and facilitate dialogue between researchers, partners, and funding agencies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You may have a background in health, well-being, digitalisation, or another relevant area. Understanding themes such as preventive well-being, functional capacity, digital transformation in health, or resilience and preparedness is considered an advantage. Most importantly, you can work with complex material and turn it into strong project proporals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We require a relevant master\u2019s degree and consider a doctoral degree or experience in doctoral research an advantage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Your education may, for example, relate to health, well-being, digital health, health and social sciences, or an interdisciplinary field.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What we offer you \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We offer an opportunity to work closely with researchers and partners and to influence how new research projects and collaborations are created. You will be part of LUT\u2019s Research Services, but your daily work will take place in close collaboration with research groups and experts at the LAB University of Applied Sciences, supporting a wide range of research activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You can be based in either Lahti or Lappeenranta, and we offer a hybrid work model that combines flexibility with regular on-site collaboration on both campuses. The position follows the university\u2019s 36.25-hour work week for expert and support staff. The hours are flexible, supporting work\u2013life balance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The position is full-time and permanent. The salary is based on the university salary system\u2019s pay scale for expert and support staff, requirement level 10. The starting salary is approximately \u20ac3,900\u20134,300 per month, depending on your experience and qualifications. Employment begins with a six-month trial period. \u00a0<\/p>\n
